Middle School Science & Math Teacher

Grade Level: 6th-8th Grade (combination class)
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 12:00pm - 3:00pm
Compensation: Competitive rate based on experience and credentials

Position Overview

Wild Wonders is seeking a passionate and adventurous middle school educator to teach Science and Math to our 6th-8th grade students in a unique farm-based, project-based learning environment. This role partners with our Language Arts & Social Studies teacher to create an integrated, interdisciplinary educational experience that brings learning to life through hands-on exploration, outdoor education, and real-world application.

The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in non-traditional settings, values the transformative power of nature-based education, and believes middle school students deserve an environment that honors their curiosity, independence, and the innocence of adolescence.

  • Core Instruction:

    • Teach Science and Math to 6th-8th grade combination class using project-based learning methodology

    • Implement Good & Beautiful Math curriculum while integrating content into broader PBL units

    • Provide individualized and differentiated instruction to meet each student's unique learning needs

    • Create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that connect academic concepts to farm life and the natural world

  • Our middle school program operates within a farm-based, outdoor education model where:

    • Learning happens both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions

    • Students engage with farm animals, seasonal gardening, and environmental stewardship

    • Academic content connects to real-world applications and natural phenomena

    • Child-led inquiry and teachable moments are valued and embraced

    • Flexibility and adaptability are essential daily practices

    This means you will:

    • Teach outdoors regularly, incorporating the farm environment into lessons

    • Adapt plans to take advantage of spontaneous learning opportunities

    • Work in all weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold)

    • Engage directly with farm work and outdoor education activities

    • Model resilience, curiosity, and environmental stewardship

  • Education & Credentials:

    • Multiple Subject Teaching Credential OR Single Subject Teaching Credential in Math or Science

    • Bachelor's degree minimum (advanced degree preferred)

    Experience & Skills:

    • Demonstrated experience teaching middle school-aged students (grades 6-8)

    • Strong content knowledge in both Math and Science

    • Experience with differentiated instruction and individualized learning approaches

    • Familiarity with project-based learning methodologies (or eagerness to learn)

  • This position requires:

    • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

    • Physical stamina for standing, walking, and moving around farm property

    • Comfort working around farm animals (horses, goats, chickens, etc.)

    • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally

    • Willingness to engage in outdoor activities including hiking, farm work, and seasonal tasks
